Playlist limits, categories and closing dates

Limit how many songs can be requested, close requests before the event, and sort songs into categories such as first dance or do not play.

In Planning and musicUpdated

Defaults for new events

In Settings > Events > Playlist Defaults:

  • Enable guest playlist requests by default: whether new events start with guest requests on.
  • Default song limit: how many songs an event’s playlist can hold. 0 means no limit.
  • Close requests before the event: how many days before the event guests and customers can no longer add songs. 0 means requests never close.

The defaults only apply to new events. Change an existing event’s limit on the event itself.

Closing

Requests close at the start of the day the chosen number of days before the event. After that, the guest page shows that the playlist is closed and the customer can’t add songs in their portal. You and your staff can still add and change songs.

Categories

Categories sort requests into groups, such as First dance, Must play or Do not play. Customers choose a category when they add a song in the portal. Every guest request goes into the Guest category automatically.

Manage categories from Settings > Events. The Guest category can’t be deleted, because guest requests rely on it.

Linking songs to the timeline

A song can be tied to a moment on the event timeline, so the DJ knows exactly when to play it. See The event timeline.
