Working out travel costs

Set a rate per mile or kilometre once, and the travel cost is suggested on every booking from the distance you enter.

In Bookings and calendarUpdated

If you charge for travel, Mobile DJ Manager can suggest the cost from the distance, so you don’t need a calculator every time.

Setting your rate

  1. Go to Settings > Events > Travel Settings.
  2. Turn on Automatically calculate travel cost from distance.
  3. Choose your Distance unit: miles or kilometres.
  4. Enter your rate per mile or kilometre.
  5. Enter a minimum distance if the first part of every journey is free. Below that distance, the suggested cost is zero.
  6. Choose whether to Round the suggested cost, up or down, and to the nearest what.
  7. Save.

On a booking

  1. Open the event’s Travel section.
  2. Enter the Distance.
  3. Click away from the field. The Travel cost in the Financial section is filled in for you, and the total updates.

The suggestion is just that: you can overwrite the travel cost on any booking.

The rest of the Travel section

  • Time: how long the journey takes, for your staff.
  • Directions URL: a link to a map, for whoever is driving.

Both appear on the printed event details.

An example

With a rate of £0.50 a mile, a 20 mile minimum and rounding up to the nearest £5, a 47 mile journey suggests £25: 47 miles at £0.50 is £23.50, rounded up to £25.
