Sending email from your own domain

Send emails from your own address, such as [email protected], by adding a few records to your domain.

In Email and automationUpdated

Out of the box, emails to your customers come from our address with your business name. To send from your own address, verify your domain.

Your sender details

In Settings > Email > Email Settings:

  • Sender name: what customers see, usually your business name.
  • Sender email address: the address emails come from, such as [email protected].

Save before going on.

Verifying your domain

  1. In Settings > Email > Email Domain, click Verify domain.
  2. A short list of DNS records appears, each with what it’s for:
    • a DKIM record, which proves your emails really come from you, so inboxes trust them
    • an SPF record, which gives us permission to send for your domain
    • an MX record, so bounced emails come back to us and we know when an address is wrong
  3. Add each record where your domain is managed, such as GoDaddy, 123 Reg, Cloudflare or your web host. If we can tell who manages your domain, we say so.
  4. Come back and click Check verification status.

DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to a day to take effect. Each record shows whether it has been found.

Until your domain is verified, emails keep coming from our address, so nothing stops working in the meantime.

Changing or removing

Click Remove domain to go back to our address, for example if you change your domain.

Already send email from your domain? These records sit alongside the ones for your usual mailbox. You don’t need to change your existing email setup.
