Rules keep planning forms short. Ask “Do you have a wedding coordinator?” and only show the coordinator’s name, phone and email when the answer is Yes.
Adding a rule
- Open the planning form and expand the question that should show or hide.
- Open Show only when….
- Click Add rule and choose:
- the Question it depends on. Only questions above it can be chosen.
- how to compare: is, is not, contains, is answered or is not answered
- the answer to compare with, if needed. Suggestions come from the question’s options.
- Add more rules if you need them, and choose whether All of these rules match or Any of these rules match.
- Save the form.
With no rules, a question always shows.
Rules on section headings
Put a rule on a section heading and it applies to every question in that section, down to the next heading. It’s the quickest way to hide a whole part of the form.
How rules behave
- Answers are compared without worrying about capitals or extra spaces.
- For a checkbox list, is and contains both mean “one of the ticked options is”.
- A question that is hidden counts as unanswered. So if A hides B, and C depends on B, hiding B hides C too.
- A hidden required question never stops the customer completing the form.
- If the customer changes an answer and a question disappears, its answer is kept. Change the answer back and it reappears.
An example
The starter Wedding planning form asks whether the venue needs your public liability insurance or PAT certificates, and with Any of these rules match, shows “Where should we send our certificates?” when either is Yes.
