Transactions > Transactions lists every payment in and out of your business: customer payments, card fees, wages and any other income or expenses you record.
Recording a transaction
Payments for an event are best recorded on the event. See Recording a payment. For anything else, such as buying new speakers or paying for a wedding fair stand:
- Go to Transactions > Transactions and click to add one.
- Choose Income or Expenditure.
- Choose a type, enter the amount, date, method and status.
- Link it to an event or invoice if it relates to one.
- Save.
Transaction types
Types are categories for your money, managed in Transactions > Transaction Types. You start with a set that includes:
- Deposit and Balance, for customer payments
- Employee Wages, for paying staff
- Merchant Fees, for card fees
- Other
Five core types are protected so they can’t be deleted, because payments and automations rely on them. You can rename them, and add as many of your own as you like, such as “Equipment” or “Advertising”.
Statuses
Only Completed transactions count towards what has been paid. Use Pending for money you are expecting, and Refunded, Cancelled or Failed for payments that didn’t go through or were given back.
Reports
The Financial report totals your income and expenditure by type for any period and compares it with the one before. See Running reports.
